HISTORY
Choreographic Ensemble “Batumi” at Batumi Municipality was founded in
1990 by a great choreographer, Laureate of Memed Abashidze State Prize,
Honoured Knight, National Artist of Georgia Mr. Enver Khabadze. Unfortunately,
he passed away and therefore the Ensemble is named after him.
In 1992, the Ensemble performed its first concert that brought great
success.
The Choreographic Ensemble “Batumi” represents the choreography of different
parts of Georgia including the finest Adjarian one in its creative activity,
which it performs during its concerts in Georgia as well as abroad. It
should be mentioned that the repertoire is enriched with national dances
of Georgia and other peoples.
During its existence the ensemble has become a laureate of various prestigious
international festivals. It has had tours in Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece,
Yugoslavia, Sweden, Denmark, Israel, Russia, countries of Arabia. Above-listed
countries offer the best concert halls for performance. The tours are
widely reflected by press and television that is proved by video materials.
Each member of the Ensemble “Batumi” is distinguished by high professional
skills and love for art. They worthily carry the name of the famous Georgian
choreographer and have been awarded with the prizes of different countries.
Currently, the Ensemble ‘Batumi” is directed by the fosterer of Enver
Khabadze, Honoured Artist of Adjara, Honoured Knight Mr. Teimuraz Bolkvadze,
who proudly continues his Master’s activity.
